View Full Version : The Chancellor
Hello all, I am new to this forum. I saw a lot of impressive work here so far!
This is a sculpt of Ian McDiarmid.
I thought he had interesting facial features and I tried to capture one of his moments from the 3rd episode.
Base mesh with cleaned topology made in 3ds Max, then sculpted in ZBrush. Rendered with Displacement map in Mental Ray.
Any comments/critiques would be very much appreciated. I am starting a new piece now and would benefit from any advice.

Hi,
I have no crits for this... it's really a great lookalike - well done; have recognized him at once. :)

Sweet job! It would be cool to see a before and after of him where he's all burnt and scarred!
Thanks guys,
For the texture, it is in my to-do list.
I also keep the suggestion for the scarred version in mind, this should be interesting to see both, side by side.
Here is a front and side version of the model:

Looks creepy this way for some reason.
Really nice work though. Make sure you use this one to do the evil-er version so you can just morph between them! ;)

damn thats dead on! well done Beneto.
Hi,
I don't know who Ian McDiamid is, nor have I ever seen him before, . .
But I recognize a damn good sculpt when I see one.
Really nice work, especially the 'sharper' pinched areas around the lips and eyes, and the forms and mucles are beautifully subtle. I think it shows admirable control and ability.
How long have you been 3d modeling ? + Have you ever done traditional sculpture ?
Oh, and if possible, could you please post a reference pic of Ian, so I can compare. :)
Thanks a bunch for the comments, guys. This will give me a kick in the arse for my next project (just started it now, will post progress as soon as possible).
Jason: doing a morph animation is an interesting idea, I'll keep this in mind. Maybe a blend between textures would be a good addition as well.
SS810: I've been doing this for 6 years (mostly game character models). The real fun began a year ago when I started to learn ZBrush though, hehe. I just love this software. It's awesome. Didn't do any traditionnal sculpting yet, but seeing what Alexleia is doing (saw that on his website) is a great motivation to start one day.
