Hi. this is a cartoon charcter i created in 1996.
it had a strong geometric concept at his foundation ...
but still over the years i couldnt find an affordable way to draw it.
I thought zbrush would be great to find the exact model proportions (and hopefully re-create his story in full zbrush mode)
it was published in six parts in the years 1996-1999. it's KUTEKAT.
I tried to sculpt just the head but i get too many details ....
i know there must be an easy way (primitives + projection master?) to create the bodyparts ...
what's your advice?

Translating a 2D concept into a 3D model is always challenging. You will find that there is no one but many interpretations that you could create out of just one concept. For your concept I would advice you to create the body with zspheres. If texturing the pants and the mouth is a good solution for you then don't model those.
The eyes could be sculpted out of the zsphere model or added individually with each frame of your comic. It all depends on how expressive you need them to be. If you are going to do that then you should define a polygroup for them so that it's easy to asign a different material for them.
All this depends a lot on what your 3d interpretation of the character is. Like I mentioned earlier. I like the concept. Good luck with it.

many appreciated thanks rafael .... the kutekat is one of my ongoing projects and i'll keep you informed with progresses. thanks again for the diffuse advicing.
Hi there,
This shape might be quicker to do in polys and then tweak and refine in ZB. Here is poly model I did based on your very cool sketch. model in HEX2, render in Carrara5. THe other image shows the model in ZB, ready for painting and shaping!!
The reason I think maybe poly first is because of the moon shaped head. I'm pretty sure you can make this cleanly in ZB but by the time you tweak zspheres and try to maintain surface smoothness you would be done in polys and or nurbs.
Anyway, just a thought. Also, if you want I can upload the polymodel I made.

i am very honoured by your interest in my puppet. very glad you worked with it a bit aon zb. I recently discovered that good balancing effects can be obtained ... mirroring the drawing scan.
