hello all, here is a man, soon to be archer, but i am having emense trouble sculpting the head/face. can anybody give me advice? i am sculpting it from a no-topology base mesh.

Advice is to download the human head 01 from the download centre and study the poly flow. There`s a horse there too, which would be useful to you in regard to your centaur.
How are you getting on with your regional mesh density problem?

hey rory, thanks but i am using a base with no topology so i do not need to worry about poly flow, once i have sculpted the mesh i will create an organised poly mesh. but for now i just need to worry about sculpting.

also is it possible to get image planes into zbrush so i can get the proportions correct?
Yes. The FAQ here at ZBC tells how, and there are also a couple of plugins for this (found in the ZScripts forum).
an organized polyflow will help you with your sculpting if you do it beforehand. How do you plan on organizing after while keeping the high resolution details? It's possible but it can lead to a lot of headaches.
