The male of the species changes its plumage during the mating season.

very crisp and clear indeed!!! I like your use of depth to this one. I get the impression of a steep drop off to the water and the birds just riding the breeze and solar planes...I think it is the lack of horizon that gives me that drop off feeling. Great viewpoint and sense of depth with a clever use of that foreground diagonal.Like this one very much. Stand aside I'm going to dive in. :tu:

It's nice to get a close-up look at a frigate bird. Of interest to me for an odd reason: a dead bird was washed up on a remote part of the Scottish coast in the middle of the last century (God, doesn't that phrase make you fee old!) and is the source of our only specimen of a particular ectoparasitic fly endemic to that species.
