Right, now, I think I'm actually getting the hang of this ZBrush. I've produced this so far

but I'm not sure if I like it. When I do stuff freehand, they always have a bit of life in them, but for the life of me, I can't see what this image is lacking!
Any ideas people?
I think it's important that the hand and head have a great sense of dominance in the image, so perhaps I should fade out the arm?
Or maybe the backgroung needs a little something?
Help!

it's looking very good! i really love the arrogant look on his face. if you really want to change it, perhaps you could render fog, to make him more in the deep...

Hi Lazarus, my initial suggestion would be to harmonize the colouring between the hand and the face. The hand is more magenta in hues and the face ochre. Bringing these magentas back into the face would connect them more. The detailing in the hand is superb, perhaps the eyes should also have more detailing to bring the face to life just as you've done with the hand. Just a subtle touch of highlight in the eyes would achieve this.
Brilliant fingernails. :tu: :tu:

The technical process involved in creating digital images often makes us forget what we intuitively react to and know as traditional artists.

Nothing to add to the suggetsions already given. But excellent job on that hand - truly a manicurist's nightmare! :tu: :tu:

Thanks lads,
I'm thinking about going back and redoing the texture on the head. When I first did it, I really didn't know what was required of a texture, as I knew the lights, shading and materials would change everything, but at least now I have a better understanding.
I'm also thinking about adding hair. I thought, if the guy had long hair, it could 'blow' to the left of the head adding a horizontal strut to the composition. I'll try it and see what it looks like, though, as I quite like the rainbow style composition that it already has.
Also, I've been trying to come up with a decent name. How does 'Beens on aisle 5' sound? :D :D :D
It seems everyone likes my hands. Would it be worth posting a tutorial on this?
