Here is my entry, which will be developing from this test to a final image.

It is an abdomen shape with fiber brush applied. I think it would look a little better if I had applied only a sparse number of hairs and slightly textured the 'skin' of the abdomen.

I hate spiders.

the scarey award? i’m not too arachnophobic, but i guess this  one will pester my dreams for a few days, Kathy, so, imho, you definitely deserve that award! :D the sticky silky texture of the web is my favorite detail in this :tu: :tu: :tu: piece of spiderart, and the fact that you skin-coloured the giant makes the spider even more creepy!

I was thinking more about the web than the spider with this one, but I decided to post it anyway. This is a hard challenge, but I guess if it was easy then it wouldn't be a challenge would it?

wow, Zoid, i love that :tu: :tu: :tu: web! my 1st attempt to contribute to Tomer’s challenge ended when i was trying to come up with something like that... i thin i’ll try something else now (hopefully done over the weekend) but i’d love to learn how you did it! (i suppose it’s a transparent texture but i could not manage to make those threads look that neato :confused :)

Hi Juandel,

According to the rules of this challenge I should have automatically included my explanation of the web making, sorry  The key here is using the "straight line" in the stroke pallette. It helps to set the stroke> modifiers> spacing to it's max of 2. I used the simple brush on its own layer to draw the straight radiating lines of the web, and then switched the stroke back to dots to make the connecting radial lines. I tried smoothing it and making it "wispier" with the smudge tool- very tedious work. I like your idea of making a transparent texture. This whole process though has given me an idea for an image that I may post in my very own topic, it's been a while. BTW my spider above does have 8 eyes, they just got cropped out of the picture ;)

thank you, Zoid! :) in fact i tried the line-stroke in preparation of a transparent texture, but silly me reduced the spacing instead of setting it to the max! looks like i’m running out of excuses to finally get my contribution started! (anyway, Silent-Bob, what do you think about stretching that time-line a lil bit towards, letssay, Nov 1st? there is sooo much to explore these days ;))
