Long time no post ;)

Just thought I would share with you guys my latest project. I really wanted to learn how to rig for facial animation so been dong exactly that for the last week. I've been using ZBrush as part of my workflow and have found it a fantastic tool for creating blendshapes, I've been sooo impressed!

Anyway, hopefully I'll have time later to post up all my shape targets and maybe the rig, but here is some tests I've done to see what I could achieve out of the rig.

Going to work on the lighting, shading and texturing next.... then I'll animate him. Oh, and his name is Boris ;) Let me know what you think

pixmaker: Thanks! Its a lot easier than I thought it would be, I brought some good books and read them back to front. Oh and I use Maya for rigging and rendering.

Soulstealer: Cheers

Nice, looks like one of those books might be by Osipa. ;)Correct :), I brought the DT Rigging DVD, Art of Rigging and Stop Staring book, all have been a great resource and have really helped me achieve what I did with the rig.

Been working hard on the shader and render tonight! I think this is the 4th shader I've used/made! Its getting there though. I think I'm going to leave the skin for now and work on the internal parts. I may retouch the lip texture too. Lighting may change a bit so if anyone has any examples of cool lighting for characters of advice I would love to hear it...

Texturing was done with Zbrush/PS...

MrJames, this is some nice work. I really like his expressions. Retouching up the lips is a good idea, particularly the bottom lip. Too many thick stripes, it looks like a candy cane . Keep it up. :tu:

Yea I discovered that Zbrush was very good/fast for making blendshapes when my teacher informed me I needed 32 blends for each character the day before all mine were due....for 4 of my zbrush models

Zbrush saved my life!

Black Crane: Cheers man! I'll update the lips at some point, I don't think I gave it enough UV space :)

CemeteryKid: Yes! It's a great tool, Happy ZBrushing! :)

Cheers Rob..

Rendered out a little test to see him in movement... I followed an exercise on a DVD for some of it, so no points for originality...
