i think it would be really cool if there were a feature on ZbrushCentral to show how many people visited a certain post/thread. i know they have something like that on Renderosity and i think it's a cool feature.
other opinions welcome.

Just my opinion here, Jib, but I can't see the need...In my view, there is no advantage to this. Renderosity is Renderosity, and it's a great site, but it seems this site is much friendlier, and less obsessed with statistics...
I would like to hear what you think would be the advantageous result gained by doing this... :)
6 of one, half a dozen of the other.
Why do you think it would be good? I have to shrug my shoulders to it. I'd probably not pay any attention to it one way or the other. (I don't pay any attention to it at R)
It's a meaningless tab actually. It's like site stats. Unless they are broken down into meaningful data, they aren't much help.
Renderosity is somewhat lame to that extent. All you have to do is make a Big breasted Poser chic with a gun, and stelleto boots, and BAM visits like crazy. OR you have to make a gruesome monster/robot of sorts and BAM, success that means nothing.
But if it's important to you and would make the board more valuable to you and others...I don't have a problem with it.

i think it would be nice to have a feature to see how many people visited a certain thread because some people don't have time to comment. others only comment on a few things because commenting on everything would be a pain. i, personally would like to see not only how many people commented on an image, but also how many people saw it.

And i know zbcentral is better and more friendly than renderosity.
I was just about to post that I'd rather have a search thingy...as i was typing I spotted the search button. So, far as I can see this forum is just fine the way it is.

the hit counter per viewing could be a bad thing and I tell ya why...there are alot of things that get posted that you view and you might not want to comment on....the thing to do is to be a good visiter and make th etime to visit each pic....and someone just starting out could really get their feelings hurt and stop trying to improve their art coz they got visited but not commented on...I see your point...but hey this is a fun friendly place and that is why I hang out here now during all my waking moments..and as far as a counter..it shows the hits as far as number of comments made already...I personally like the board the way it is...though I would like to see a perm. link to southerns chat room on here somewhere... :)
Kind Regards,
Ron
My feelings are that it would turn it into to much of a competition, I feel it works okay as it is.

Honestly, the forums at 3DCommune all show the number of visits that a thread has had -- and it's pretty much useless. If I ever see the number, it's completely by accident because it just doesn't matter to me. I mean, if I want to read the thread I'll open it regardless of the number, and I never go back to look at the number of views one of my threads has had. I'm more concerned with what the people who did post have to say than those who didn't. I really don't think that anyone over there would say anything if that number suddenly disappeared. If anyone even noticed! lol
