well, i've begun work on my next big project since i never do anything small. this is the hand i've been wirking on and yes it's supposed to be webbed and it's supposed to have slightly longer fingers. I decided the only way i could get it to look right (since it is going to be close up in my pic) was to make it from one angle. so here are two immages one from the propper viewing angle and two from different angles. critisizm *sp* and suggestions welcome.

A nice hand indeed, W/R! :tu:
My methods usually involve snapshotting models into place, and then painting them...A lot of times, all you need is for it to look good from one viewpoint since you're not animating, and only one view will be seen...Work it out from that view, and success will follow. This is a great start!

Excellent modeling WhiteRabbit! I really like the details(the wrinkles and webbing!). As for a suggestion... The top image showing the front view looks great, However the bottom two views show a slightly out of shape profile. If you thin the pinky and ring finger a little more(from the profile view) and possibly widen the tip of the Index finger (also from the profile view). I think it will look perfect!
Great job so far!

I am not a modeler, but I can recognize a good start when I see one, and you have certainly done that as others have said. I think if you take the advice given, you will complete a very good image.

Your model is beyond... anything of the Z-Hand type I've ever dreamed of. Hands are hard there can be no doubt. But looking at this hand, and the arm and head... I'm in awe. Really. :)

Here are the hand and arm put together with textures. tell me what you think. they ARE supposed to be sort of bluish and pale. is it smooth enough?

It certainly looks pale and blue. As if exposed to very cold weather.

You done a top job modeling here, it is all of a very good level. You ask for views, so I was thinking somthing along the lines of using the alpha brush to create some veins to bring the arm to life, using blue of course. oh Yes and that nose and mouth, "wow" cool

The hand and arm are perfect for the project/character.

Wonderful texturing. That "glowing" blue webbing is great!

The skin has that thin, alien type transparency to it.

My only thought of addition....
maybe "suggest" the underlying anatomy contained under that transparent skin.

The folds on the palm of the hand are awesome. :D :tu: :tu:

Nice colors. :tu: It kind of makes me feel like this lives in water. Nice blue water (fingers) and a muddy element (arm). Whatever it turns out as, nice! :)

this is the head with a texture and the eyes i made for her. I don't really like the eybrows so they will probably go, but for the most part this is how her head will look, though it will have hair in the final. tell me, is it too blue for the arm?

I think the tone is just right, and the project has great potential... :tu:
I would like to know what settings you use for rendering... :qu:
Here are mine:
:b2: Blur - 20
:b2: Edge - 16
:b2: Sample - 3
:b2: Super Sample - 2
:b2: Color Adjustment - On
The reason I ask is because of the 'jaggies' around the eye-sockets...
This is rockin' so far, though! ;)

oh wow, this is very very impressive. You've done a fantastic job White Rabbit I'm very impressed. :tu: :tu: :tu:

I love those eyes. I'm yet to learn how to make eyes, I have the tutorial open right here, but im reluctant to read it ;) I'm the type of person who likes to play around in the program myself and figure it out, i'm not one for reading directions :D

All in all fantastic, I can't wait to see where you go next with it.

hey SC.. i didn't actually render this one it was just a quick throwing together of peices to show. i'll be sure to make my final image as high res and as detailed as possible. i keep your settings in mind when the time comes. i'm still getting used to all the little tools and adjusting things you can do in this program. while i'm satisfied for the most part with everything i've modeled so far, i really am quite ignorant of the rest of the program, but i'm slowly learning. MOH, i would definately recomend looking at eye tutorials. when you make your own eyes they are individual but i think this is the best techneque for doing eye balls. thanks for all the encouragement and advice yall.
