View Full Version : Can't find alpha script

I've searched the message board, but I can't find a script that one of the gurus posted recently. It was a script that talked about the alpha palette while creating a skyscape. Does this ring any bells? I could have sworn it was posted just a day or two ago, but for some reason I can't find it. Anyone know where I could grab it from?

Thanks.

Hi :)
Would it be the recent tutorial posted by Zoid in here (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=003242)?

I can't seem to duplicate the affect of the alpha brush in this tutorial (could be a limitation of the demo version, but it's probably me :) ).

Rather than the nice smoky white clouds, I get the smoky clouds in a dark blob:

The settings I have for the Alpha, Stroke, Material, and Tool palettes are the same as the script. The Draw Palette is the same too, though I've been experimenting with different Z-intensities and that doesn't seem relevant.

I also played with the Light Palette, but the dark blob is still there.

Anyone know what would cause the dark blob? Thanks!

I'm not sure, but just looking at your image I would guess that you have different materials. The background looks like it is FlatColor material. The "blob" looks like it is FastShader material. So I would suggest switching the material to FlatColor before you make the blob. :)

That would be my guess, too. Any time two very different materials come into contact with one another they manage to fight with each other. That's why Southern uses very slight variations in material when he's working at shading a creature's skin.

1:simple brush
2:stoke pallete>DragRect1
3: Draw Pallete adjust your width and height
4: material flat color as Muvlo said.
or Fill layer and turn ZADD off that way most material will be Flat :tu:
To Fill Layer just Pick a color and hit
(CTRL key and hit the Letter F)
(CTRL F)

Thanks EZ for reducing the script to 4 lines of things to do. Very helpful.
