hi everyone.
first, let me apologise for being quite inactive these last days. I'm taking exams at the univesity, so I don't have time for the forum if I want to paint anything :)
here's a new one. I've been working on it for about a month - a good 100 hours.
I'm not going to list the sexual innuendoes this time - if there are any.
100% zbrush. the scorpion was modelled piece by piece, using an anatomic drawing.
used 12 layers, countless markers, and a 3000x2000 resolution, which overtaxed my processor :)

and a closer view. Cheers!

thanx ppl.
thx, michael.. well, this one actually does. but I was kind of hoping other people had dirty minds as well. :)

Thats awsome, good job. What made you think of the legos?

excellent christos.. very cool image.. lego my ego man...lol..
Very cool image. :tu: It has a very real look to it, the legos are awsome... But aren't they all? :) Anyway, awsome scorpian. :)
Nice Scorpion. As anatomicaly correct as is posible with a painting. My wife is a
scorpio so I know what they are capable of. I am still trying to decipher the sexual connotations, but having an idea of how your young imaginative mind works I would not at all doubt that there is one.
I hope you ace your exams.

Wonderful work --Hey maybe it's the next SCORPIONS CD cover?? Good luck at University -Here you already have your PHD in artistic tittilation :D :tu: :tu:
Unbelievable :tu: :tu: :tu:
you got one at home? It looks very live...
Your modeling abilities are SO advanced!
Would you be generous to a less skilled friend and unwrap the scorpion, and post his untextured parts as well as textures? (Like Southern has done with some of his work)
It would REALLY help me learn how to coordinate such a complicated piece of architecture. Each joint is so perfect. Sizing, POV, etc is dead on.
I don't need a fancy tutorial, I would just REALLY appreciate seeing the raw objects. This is advanced work for even a professional. I would be forever in your debt if you were share a peak into your skills.
Ooo! And the lego piece, too. How did you do that? Boolean or stacking or what???
I'll beg if it helps.
:D
((Much success on exams!!))
Wow, fantastic Prawn. No, only joking, it really is an excellent painting, incredibly Photorealistic. Any sexual links must be for masochists, a lot of sting in that creature. All the best with your exams.

Chris, This scorpion is wonderful. I can clearly recognize your style.

well, i must say...this is one of your best. increadible image, all around. i'm amazed every time you post something new. Thanks for posting the pieces and their textures too. it helps me see how simple pieces, if in the hands of the right artist, can become a terrific masterpiece. great image, keep it up.

Oustanding, as usual, Chris. You really do some amazing modeling -- always have, in fact, even from your first posts. Great work, and a cool concept.

oh my, i'm back to corel draw or whatever ... that beast is simply a-m-a-z-i-n-ggggg! i really envy your obvious skills and patience at modeling.
but: this time i don't get it, i just can't decypher your subliminal-subconscious-freudian-jung'ish message this time. still riddling.

thank you everyone...
this time the sexual meaning is diminished by the deeply autobiographical implications;
when I was 5, my parents threw away a whole roomful of LEGO. something in my subconscious must have woken up recently, as I clearly saw this as an act of castration - a castration of childhood creativity, practiced by so many -otherwise open minded- parents who don't want their children to become underpaid artists.
I know the meaning is a bit hard to digest, but if it were easy, being an art critic would be an easy job :)
by the way, thank you for the response, and really sorry for the delay in replying :(
university is taking its toll, I'm afraid.
Cheers!
That is OK my friend. We all want you to Ace your exams. That is the most important thing right now. Re castration, why use a scorpion to depict that situation?

Awesome detailing! (faints then picks self up off of floor) 100 hours??? Must be a bit of sado/mashichism built into that pic too! As far a sexual innuendos the only thing I can think of is that, well...it has it's pincers spread wide open and it is in a "box" and it has that splot of red on top in the form of a lego and well...I guess you could say it's sticking it's stinger in that box....oh PHAW! who am I kidding! I haven't a clue!!! Great work! I shall be on the watch for more.
aaaah, i see ... now i understand, partially.
well, i've never regarded lego as a means of creativity, just sharp edged thingies that do hurt whenever you step on them, and i stepped on them a lot.
thx for explaining, especially since it's autobiographic.
