I think I've spent so much time Scripting I've forgotten how to make art in Z. We'll have to rectify that!

Here's my question.

Lets say I have draw a sphere in ZBrush.
It's the basic, unmodified sphere. I draw it so it is pointing in this direction (shown here with dot mode on):

Now, still pointing in the same direction, I use Z Symmetry with radial on, to draw this black ring around the top.

If I use the colors to texture button, I will get a texture like this:

Now, what I want is to have a texture like this:

While keeping the same orientation of the sphere. Possible? Impossible? I'd like to know... :)

Hi Muvlo,

Here are 2 possible answers…

1. To get your 2nd texture from your 1st texture you simply apply the first texture to a Circle3D object.
2. Drawing with Z Radial symmetry produced the first texture while drawing with Y Radial symmetry will produce the 2nd texture.

Is this of any help? If it is not, then please post more details about the method in which you plan to make a use of the 2nd texture and I may be able to post a better solution :)

Well, now that I go back, #2 does eem to work fine. I had some problems with the previous model I did. The models would crinkle around the poles. I've started a new model though, and so far have had no trouble. I wanted the poles in a particular place because there are some more or less flat places on my model. I wanted the texture that way so I could edit it more directly. But so long as the crinkling doesn't happen, changing the symmetry axis should work fine. :)
