The only word from Pixologic is that the lower price will be in effect until version 1.5 is released.

Obviously, Pixologic wants to get to that point as quickly as possible -- but they want to do it right so that 1.5 is worth every penny of the full price. To accomplish this, they are being very responsive with customer feedback, to the point of even having the Make-A-Wish Thread (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum&f=6).

At the same time that they're working toward that goal, they want to show that the program is growing, and to keep building the excitement. Each new version that's released gathers more attention from the industry at large and grows the pool of users.

The bottom line is that the upcoming release is probably not going to be 1.5. A couple of comments here at ZBC by Pixolator make it sound like there are more things that they want to do even after the upcoming release. So you are probably safe for a few more months.

Don't slow down with your saving, though. Software development is not an exact science, and Pixolator could have a sudden "eureka" that allows it to all come together with the next version. And Pixologic's official stance on when that version will be released is "when it's ready."

The waiting is frustrating, but it sure beats Microsoft's "let's release it on X date and then spend the next 5 years fixing the bugs".
