I recently developed a zscript to fit my workflow needs. this zscript comprehends:

-being able to store your current brush size
-your focal shift
-the rgb
- the z intensity
-whether you were working with zadd or zsub
- if you were painting M MRgb or Rgb
- Stores your edit curve
- the texture (if you were working with a custom texture it saves it out
and loads later on when the preset is loaded)
-the alpha you were using ( if it was custom it also saves it out)

All of this onto a folder that you can backup and have all the brush configurations you use the most ( like elefant skin, dragon scales, etc... anything you want, really.... ), instead of having to remember where you put the textures (if you stored them), where you put your alpha, what intensity you used with that brush to achieve the effect.

You will have a bunch of your own workflow presets ready to be loaded, instead of loading the alpha, the texture, setting your zintensity and all that stuff, everytime you want to use it. (It is planned that it will store the brush type you were using also, like the std, std, Inflat, and that...)
if people are interested on this plugin please let me know through this thread and I will release it for all you zbrushers out there.

P.d. If it's realeased, I plan to distribute it with some presets (Preset applicants please apply :D ).

NEWS!! RELEASED TO THE COMMUNITY.

Instalation
-----------

Unzip the installation zip to the ZBrush2 directory into ZStartup\ZPlugs(create any nonexistent folders).
It will start everytime you start Zbrush.

This image shows the three buttons (and the M+, that's the Svengali plugin) that will be added to the ZPlugin palette under the name Brush States [Version]:
the Save brush conf. saves your current configurations.
the Load last brush loads the last one you loaded, just in case you tweaked it and want to return to work with the saved one.
and Load conf. file. brings up a dialog for you to select the preset you want to work with.

Ps. I recommend to drag them outside the canvas with the ctrl key to avoid the hazzle of having to open the palette everytime you want to use it, like I did.

Nice idea that should be useful to most ZBrush users! Please do post it.

You've inspired me to post a subroutine I've used for a similar purpose (saving and restoring the state of zBrush) inside a plugin. The code is listed over in the ZScript Help forum in the Sticky thread for Suggested ZScript Functionalities.

Excellent! Just what the doctor ordered on this rather chilly October month...

I'll be giving this script a bash at some point today.

Hey jmesias.
Just tried out your plugin.
Can't get it to work.
It's only writing out PSD files...
Am I doing something wrong?
Cheers

hey! do you use msn? mine is jomesias@hotmail.com. ill be more than glad to help you out. Regarding the psd dialog: Zbrush has some bugs when loading various zscripts(you can take the zplugs out of the directory meanwhile to try it out). I will have to test it out and debug the entire thing regarding compatibility with other plugins(no wonder it's Alpha). I am not able to load the curve on this installation of Zbrush, though on another pc I had no problems at all. well, wish me a happy scripting!!

Does this plugin work on 3.1? Or there is another way to save the brushes configuration on Zbrush 3.1?

Thanx!

ralphgmr,

This plugin is NOT for ZBrush 3.1. ZBrush 3.1 has a completely new Brush palette thru which you can save and load brushes. To have custom brushes load at startup, put them in in the ZStartup\BrushPresets folder.
