Update of sorts.....

I am not over the moon about this effort to date. In an oversight I managed to have materials added to the hair area (no big deal I can redo the area if I need to though).

I tried Tex master, but concluded the model and what I wanted to do with the face texture just wasn't working. It would appear it was to intricate........Or I need more experience with the procedure. So I returned to a 3 layered ZDoc......which appears to have inherant problems with lighting, and model material....again no big deal...I will fix that when I change it to bitmap (or will baking help?).

I haven't looked at why the smudge tool seems
to work in quarters of the image in different manners.....(?)Is it because of differing depths in the image?

Also I am encountering anomalies with 3D, and copying a 2D image....plus Frazetta's artistic eye. Ego dictates that I must mention I have not copied anything for years, but it was a helluva a way to learn back then.

I will manage to finish one of these days I hope.

HMmmmmm
Seems to me you are being a tad bit hard on yourself. There are many points of excellence contained in this piece.

I have to agree there are times the TexMast just doesn't work for me either. I have a model that just froze ZB while trying to use TM. So I reverted to my former texturing method. Yo know the old addage, "Just cause you have it, doesn't mean you have to use it." ((or something like that))

Smudge Tool: I have found the same outcome as far as differing results. I'm not sure if it is the depth cue or not. I use it sparingly.

Copying existing 2D work into a 3D piece is difficult. Not in technique I think, but in the fact you have this "perfect" piece and it demands precise execution to achieve it's twin.

BUT, I'm tell'en ya, this is very impressive to me. I've not gotten to this level.

Wonderful bust, and since I'm surrounded by Frazetta prints in my studio, I hope you keep going on this...Texture wise, I haven't so far...I snapshot my models with a base color into position, and then paint them, so I can't help there, but I love the way this is going...It almost is on its way to a painting Frank would have liked!

Your picture looks good to me....Like the cook Justin Wilso was always saying about wine.....it doesnt matter if you serve a cheap wine with yer dinner or an expensive wine...what matters is that you like the taste...and I definite like yer taste and style....Keep up the outstanding modeling and art.... :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:

ed, i was running your head modeling script. I was wondering, what is the subdivision setting on the sphere when you are modeling it. is it the default 0 or much higher? also, it seems you keep the z-intensity pretty low and slowly build up. I would love to find a way to get those tight wrinkles and skin creases on a face. I tried modeling above 20 for the subdiv resolution, and i would get few seconds of delay between strokes, kinda annoying. thanks for any and all info and input.
