need help with alphas

help me please.. i have a project im working on and i need a book lying flat on the screen pages up, and i need a alpha to create a tool for future use..plus i lack the experience of drawing one by hand.. if you could help that would be really nice of you.

I have a project where I need a book too so I'll gladly help if I can.

Can you describe a bit more what exactly you need? Is the book to have some shape - e.g. a crease at the spine or is it squashed flat. Is it a thick book such that the pages will splay at the ends?

Also, do you need an alpha for skinning or for deforming an existing shape?

It's surprising what can be achieved with the existing alphas - no. 27 has become my friend :)

Here's a real quick rough and ready book shape.

It was made with nothing but alpha 27 drawn back to back twice (one pair for each side of the book) on a cube primitive that was then inflated (this would have been much easier if I had got around to making that dark-light-dark gradient alpha I would have found really useful at many times :rolleyes: ). I then grabbed an alpha off this and skinned it.

With a few more alpha deformations it could be quite presentable :)
