Your model is looking really nice. Don't worry yourself by comparing your work to some of the stuff on this site, I did and it only upset me :) Just focus on having fun and experimenting with the sheer greatness that is Zbrush. Have a play around with Projection master if you haven't already, it can do some really cool stuff. I'd like to see this finished with a bit of chin fluff

not bad, better then what I have been able to come up with so far, if you can I would suggest playing around with the deco brush in projection master it can be very helpful in adding wrinkles and the like. by the way I like the sig on the image the fire looks nice :) .

hey, thanks a lot. now as of yesterday, this devil turned toa customer project, and i was asked to make him more sinister looking. he is going to be part of a bodybuilding logo. heres a couple expressions i came up with.

and about the signature, i signed with my wacom and saved it ina few sizes as brushes in photoshop. i use it on everything i make, but i got ceative with this 1 for some reason. was just playing around, i think i did it because his eyes, and also i was stoked because this was one of many mile stones i in terms of learning zbrush. i dont know what is the art decco brush, but ill lookinto it. i was trying to add wrinkles and fine lines today, wasnt working so great, and the strokes kept cutting out on me, it wasdriving e crazy.

Hey Rio!

Cool character! Nice face expressions.
I think something that might help you get a cleaner geometry would be working on your lower subdivisions more.

Have a good day!

i like the last pic the most i agree the facial expressions are good although if you use ase morph targets the horns would probaly be moving around;) :tu:

well i did point them in different directions on purpose, but doyou mean they will move around in undesireable ways?? i dont yet really understand morph targets, not well at least, but playing with it, i saved a morph target when it was in the form of my very 1st post, and morphed it back and forth, from the oldest to newest ones, and the horns didnt get distorted but they did grow and shring accordingly. im still very very much a beginner, and am confused easily about the tools and toys of this program.

Good concept. A couple of things to think about.
The customers eyes are your light source. The characters eyes should be pointed directly at the viewers eyes. A spot light, dead center of the logo pointed directly at the characters eyes would give a good effect. The eyes should be well lit and pointing directly at the viewer. The character is too dark. On a logo you should not have to search for details they should stand out. With this dark skin color you should go with a natural skin tone specular and lots of it which will make the details stand out clearly. The chain links should be about half to a third the size they are now so the name stands out better. You want the customers to see the name clearly and remember it or it defeats the purpose of the logo in advertising the company. Everything in a logo should be sharp and well defined. No broken lines in the edges. For instance avoid deep bumps. You might try a more brushed steel look on the face of the letters and a beveled edge to make the letters stand out better.

Here is a quick dirty sample render to demonstrate what I mean about the lighting. Same skin color on both but remarkably different appearance.

wow, thats great advice. ill try that. and i agree the chain links are a bit large, guess i was just being lazy in positioning them, i made a 24 link chain in 3dsmax and in poser assigned bones to each link, and positioned it how i wanted, it was very tedious. was the 1st time i did anything like it. but i guess it wouldnt hurt to make em smaller...

and to doron...
yeah the polys are slightly visible all over the place, but the poly count was getting sooo high. i figure the final image will only be 1/2 to 1/3 this size for their website and everything should be smoothed out through shrinking it down, hopefully.
