View Full Version : glitch in tiling?

I was making a gooey tiling texture in Zbrush, painting without going to the edge and using the tilde key to drag the image around and painting until all the holes were filled. On the screen I can see there is a single pixel width line at the top of my image that does not match the top of the image or the bottom of the image. In fact, when exported, this image will have a line where the top and bottom meet unless I crop the top by one pixel.

I'm too new to using all the features in ZBrush to know if there is a reason for this to occur or if it's a bug.

If I get this right, there should be a jpg attached that is a zoomed in cropped chunk of the top and bottom corners of the tile. If you look closely you can see the top side has a line that doesn't match the pixels below and it's there continuously as I move the tile around with the tilde/drag method. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1014618866naf.jpg

Hi diana,
Instead of using the DOCUMENT export button to export the image, try ‘grabbing’ the full-size image by using the MRGBZGrabber tool and then export the ‘grabbed’ image directly from the texture palette.

Ok, that works, thanks, didn't think to use it for this purpose.

Is this how the image on screen and an exported image from the document area is supposed to look? See attached for the darkened edges on a non tiling doodle image.

I placed the exported image against a white matte so it is more visible. The right edge of the image does not have this dark edge, nor does the bottom, almost like a one pixel shadow or something there. I see this on screen and in a document export but not with the MRGBZGrabber tool.

I'm curious, why are the darkened one pixel wide lines there? Why is the appearance on screen and in the document export different from that using the MRGBZGrabber tool? So many questions... ;) http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1014653221gia.jpg

That one pixel line has something to do with the way that the material is interacting with the lighting. I'm not quite sure why the MRGBZGrabber doesn't pick the shadow up, but I'm not complaining!
