View Full Version : Godzilla 1998 movie version
Godzilla1ScreenShot2.jpg
I have been working on this for a few days. I made the base mesh in Silo 1.42, and the Silo 2 beta, then brought it into Zbrush to refine the shape and to add details.
Next step is to take it back into Silo to retopologize it and add teeth etc, then back to Zbrush. Godzilla tennis if you will...
I am really struggling to find good reference pictures for this beast, so it is largely based on my kid`s toy

Ok, working with half of my model (less polys=more speed http://www.silo3d.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif ) in Silo 2 beta.
I`m loving the `snap to surface` tool option, which is what has been used here by trying to rebuild the topology on my Zbrush edited Godzilla.
I`m saving often, just in case, but so far with the tools I have been using (create polygon, cut, extrude edge, merge vertices) all seems stable.
My headache though comes with trying, for the 5th time, to redo the topology. If it was a humanoid head...no problem...but Godzilla is fighting me all the way. It`s most probably down to my inexperience, so can anyone help with some guide to edge flow/good topology? I`ve tried to keep the model to quads, but there is a pesky tri in the cheek, just under the eye...grrr...
Any help will be gratefully received.
Thanks for looking
MrGrey,
Maybe you could cut along the blue line to quad everything or you could remove the ones below :) Hope this helps!

Thanks for that weyvin, I`ll go with your first suggestion I think. I really felt like I was banging my head against the wall. I`ve heard it said that good topology is like working out a puzzle...I think it may be right
