As a little side-project while I bring the 'Troll King' home....

Well, what can I say? I have no idea why I did this piece...Hanging around with Simone at the studio, on a Sunday afternoon, then this...
Anyway, back to Troll Hall for me, and as I said, this was my last 'Floating Head' pic...
I require more stimulation! ;) :) :D

By the way, I am listening to the Hockey game, with three minutes to go in the 2nd period it's a 2-2 tie between the Vancouver Canucks and the St. Louis Blues....

AN EDIT: I thought you might like to see the same head with default lighting, so you can see how I paint on the color, and combine it with lighting to get a different skin...

DeeVee, the background is done by using one of Southerns' Alphas, tiling it with Daves' Tiler script, converting the resultant Alpha with multiple 'ZBrush' to a Stencil, shrinking the Stencil in scale, then with Reflected Map material, and a big brush drawing a 'Z', followed by painting just RGB, with ZAdd turned off... ;)

Nice finish SC it really turned out geat as I expected it would. Thank you so much for the information on how you did the background. I have not begun to download alphas as yet, maybe I should start, as they may come in useful in the future.

This reminds me of the good old days when record players had tone arms and other cool moving stuff. Please don't say this is the last one of these, I found this very stimulating. I love the grafted skin effect :tu:

Hehe, because of all the wonderous things Zbrush does, way ahead of its time, I am not shocked by Pixolator's receptionist.
This image is looking so good :tu: :tu:

The color palette is warm and the light playing off the machined surfaces are fantastic. Is that all done with lights or with a little help from brushes?

It worked out into a great image with some fine detail. BTW is Floating Heads the name of a pop group, if it isn't it ought to be.

Hey Floyd! What you see is about 1/2 dozen materials, a lot of colors painted on surfaces, and then the light colors are tweeked to achieve the look of the material...I render repeatedly while I work, and pretty well every time I change anything. I think of my 'Z-Tank' as a movie set, with extremely co-operative actors.... ;) And the less the number of materials used, with appropriate surface work done on them, the easier it is for a painter to keep a consistent feel to the piece. (And I DO see Z as a paint program....It just has a 3D component, so it's like a painter doing a still life having 3-dimensional light based replicas of the fruit, capable of being moved into position...Automatic light mapping? )
