Just thought of something. A well deformed character like this needs some striking eyes. So that you can fit the eyes easily try opening up the eye sockets up under the top eye lid and down below the lower eye lid and in the back of the socket (all by using the Sub feature) that way you have plenty of room without having the eyes suddenly sink into the back of the eye socket - the edges will remain nice and round.

thanks all for these kind words, they are much appreciated :)

I am not sure i understood what you meant Mentat, but i am curious to know if you guys have some kinds of magic tricks for doing eyes (other that the one in the forum links), i am experimentating plenty of things for the moment.

This afternoon, i started a new character , 100% zbrush. I have not done the eyes yet, but i have worked hard on the eyes-sockets :)

Zbrush rocks !!!

you should visit the quicklinks above and search for tuts and zscripts on eyes... one eye script to point out is southerns grumpy elf eye script.. its packed with some great info..or this one for a real eye texture that can be applied to a simple spherehttphttp://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=001181

Let me see if I can explain it a little better. You see the eye sockets on your character? If you were to create a sphere (for an eye) and place it in the socket right now you would find one of two things. 1) it would be too large and sink into the back of the socket too soon or into the sides of the socket thus destroying the spherical curve of the eye (and in the process rob you of the illusion of depth) or 2) you would have to resize it to a much smaller size to get the sphere to keep its spherical integrity when placing it in the socket.

I like to do two things:

1) I look closely at the socket and ask myself....SELF!....will an eyeball fit in the socket without disappearing into the walls of the socket prematurely? If the answer is Yes then I deepen the socket...I make sure SUB is activated on the tool and carve out the cavity. I make sure I undercut the insides of the eyelids so I get a nice illusion of depth (also helps in producing better natural shadows when rendering). Imagine the eye socket as a hollow pocket with the round eyeball neatly tucked away inside.

2) I try to add eyelids and skin that will hang over the eye otherwise it just looks like a marble sitting in a hole.

Does this help?

i think we are using the same technic : lets do it, then lets see what happens :)

The Ctrl-z combo is i think, one of the best invention of this century :)

Great job! I like the second one a lot. The wrinkles and bags under his eyes are reallly good. I have a lot of trouble making wrinkles but yours are VERY good. It is a great job character!! The firsto ne is also great. He reminds me of something but i just dont know what.
