Hello,

I would like to know, how I can correctly put a lot of detail on my model, without having to deform the actual mesh of my model. What I mean by that, is using Projection Master and bumpviewmaterial to get the details onto your mesh. Without using Zadd/Zcut.

I heard you have to use grayscale palette, but I do not know what this would mean. How do I have to work with that in bumpview?

Here's an example of my meshed based details below. I cannot have a lot of polygons, and the details are square-like on some areas of the model. But I've considered using this bumpview approach. So now I am asking if anyone could explain me how to properly work with it.

Maybe Aurick could help? Anyone?

Thanks for your help!

Well, you could save your model. Then go up into lots of polygons and add lots of juicy details. Then download Zmapper and create a normal map. Wahla! Detail without changing polygons!
Heres (http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=5250882044750048506&q=normalmap) a video I made demonstrating it if you dont know

Hope this helps :D

Quite a few examples on the forum for this request. This was a good video supplied by Silhouette93 though. ;)

Thanks for your replies, but I'm afraid that is not the answer I was quite looking for. What you suggested was not the method I wanted to use. I cannot get up to 1 million polys. My PC won't make over that. Then the details aren't even clear. They're all blocky, with Zadd and the other mesh-editing tools.

I hear that with bumpviewmaterial you do not need to go at a big poly-count to get really rich details. Is this true? If so, how do I exactly do that? (Keep in mind, that this not have to do anything with the mesh tools).

So, anyone?

Okay, so now it worked. But I still get ugly noise details from it. How come? Should I set resolution higher or something? My texture is 2048, so that wouldn't be the problem.

Here a screenshot of the model again. With bumpview and 'details' applied. Only the problem now is that the detail ain't showing optimally. How can I increase detail resolution for bumpview?

I had the same problem, and the secret is to increase the resolution of your texture before you go into projection master. Since the bumpmap is viewed as a texture map higher resolution = more detail. Give it a try :)
