hello to all, yay first post :D,
I'm new to ZBrush and have, since starting to use the program, been trying a number of things out in the 3 days i've had it. Today i finally decided to begin my first serious model which i had already chosen to be an adaptation of a reference picture i got from a friend a while ago. My plan is to rig and animate it in Maya after completion and use it in my own production that is to be completely made, after initial filming, by me alone.
Anyway... i have, today, become taken by ZSpheres and its modelling process but am, to put it lightly, inexperienced and have been having a few thoughts.
Thoughts being that i was unsure whether or not it was possible to go back and edit a ZSphere model in said form after making the mesh view and exiting the edit option.
Secondly i was curious, before attempting anything that may ruin my first attempt in ZBrush, as to how some more experienced modellers would go about modelling the wings and wanted to get some feedback before tackling this possible problem im facing.
Once the problem with the wings is sorted i will start posting progress pictures of my first creation and eventually more of my models for my "work in progress" movie. But im only 15 so i guess i can take my time on getting the whole movie done and focus on fine tuning my skills in ZBrush, or possibly simply reach some acceptable level that can be referred to as skill.
All help with any of these points is appreciated.
well... thats one way to make a first appearance i suppose, thanks for any replies in advance.:D

I'm quite new to Zbrush, but I do know you cannot add, subtract or reposition the Zspheres ones you've begun shaping, sculpting, texturing etc. I was a little peeved the first time I tried to pose a finished model and discovered what moving the Zspheres did to the mesh.

There is a little addon script for Zbrush called Marker Master, which I've yet to use properly, (I've experimented with it a bit) It allows you to edit tools (objects) on their own or as a group. It's the only way someone like me who knows nothing about rigging etc, can pose a model, by making individual parts and positioning them in a pose/scene. Shouldn't be a problem for you as you mentioned that you know how to rig.

Good luck anyways mate ;)

Thanks for your help Angelstein. I know how to use markers if thats what you were referring to. I think i may do a model in maya and import it into ZBrush for detailing while im waiting for a, reply just to see how it looks, i don't want to mess the ZSphere one upas its my official first model :D.
Thanks again.

do a search on magnet spheres.

has a picture of his zsphere model, showing their use to form wings.
Also, be carefull with your zsphere model, and make sure all the polys connect how you want them to before you add in detail. I noticed on one model, only after i started detailing, that the polygons on the hands and wings were screwed up. I had to bring it into maya/lightwave to fix it, and lost all my detailing as a result.
