View Full Version : neighbor - or the other side
A thought about war and all those popular images of figures with guns, swords and other means of destruction brought me to the idea of illustrating a picture of the other side of all of this. Why not show a victim, why not show the actual effect weapons have as opposed to glorifying force, hate, executors of violence.
In a way, this is merely a work in progress, but I figure I just post it now already...it's close enough.
Rendered in messiah:Studio, but everything else is pretty much Zbrush!

Your image is, of course (and unfortunately), very timely. Regardless of a person's politics, it is always the innocent who suffer most in war.
Your image is both beautifully and brutally realized; the victim seems to be struggling for release from his grave. ...A very powerful image! Thank you, and very good to see your work again.

A very striking image. I get the feeling that the victim is puzzled by what has happened - I reckon that's how it must be.

Great work and concept.
he doesn't look like he's in too much pain to me. he looks like he's in kind of a peaceful shock or disgust on his new situation. i think if he had an an expression of misery, pain, disgust and shock it would better convey the tragedy and insanity of war much better.
the hands are great.
The idea is far more "disbelieve". The fact that it all is over beyond understanding or expectation. Death is a resolution, wanted or not, but the power to recognize and observe it beyond it's occurance is what provides a level of absurdity, that I felt as appropriate. It's not glorifying the situation with some wild expression. When things become too obvious, people tend to ignore what they're actually looking at. They don't explore the human aspect of it. It simply becomes a picture or some numb exaggeration.
But this is just how I perceive it. It sure is arguable.
ooh.! :tu:
really good one this pic.. best I saw for quite some time!
