A journey into ZBrush 2D Brushes, alphas, highlighters, pickers and color adjustments. This is a 100% ZBrush 2D head study (excluding border and jpg creation). I googled for the reference photo.

and here is a little of the workflow. I did a ZScript but it seems to only show the top left corner. I'll work it out later.

Very nice, Glen... :tu:
As a traditional painter, I find far too few 2D paintings done with ZBrush, something that it is excellently suited to...After all, it IS a painting program!
(It was also interesting to see how much you and I share the exact same workflow for our paintings... ;) )
What I find to be the most useful thing about 2D painting in ZB is the ability to 'push' an edge from alternate sides to tighten up a line...The blur brush in ZB is really easy to control with size and RGB intensity, which makes it possible to paint as if using Acrylics...

Dear Glen.
You are a master painter and a master with ZBrush.
Thank you for sharing your work.
I have the demo and can't wait to purchase the full version.
Best wishes to you and your family and bye for now.

Fine work, Glen. And thank you for posting the steps along the way - most instructive, particularly for someone like me who has never attempted portraiture. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Outstanding, simply outstanding. I am so grateful to you for so adequately demonstrating the quality of work that can be done with ZBrush. Painting or modeling ZBrush is hard to beat.
:) :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :)
Glen,
Thank you very much for yet another outstanding demo....You continue to amaze...

Brilliant , I'm not even gonna try with my mouse :p
but thanks for the workflow , I cant imagine working without layer (like in photoshop) , but it in Zbrush I dont think layers are that useful for 2d .. :(
Sure they are. To create a new layer, press Layer>Duplicate. This way, if you don't like what you've done you can always delete it before moving on without losing any work from before the duplication. You can then merge layers (make sure that MRGB and ZADD are active) before moving on, or simply have a bunch of layers representing each stage of your work.
There is also a way to duplicate the Photoshop layers (albeit, there aren't any layer blend options). A tutorial on that is included in the ZScripts that come with ZBrush. But using this technique will allow you to have each layer empty except for what you paint on it (as opposed to the layer duplication method).

hmm yeah true , didnt think of that Aurick.
using layers as some kind of history points.
Maybe I should give it a try , 2D painting might be a good change :p
I wonder if my pc can handle bigger docs better working 2D than 3D. Would be nice to be able to work on those high resolutions on this crap comp :p
