all done with zspheres. the quick way to do it is using radial symmetry and adding a few zspheres, dragging them off after hitting "w". then, after hitting "r" and alt+clicking on linkspheres, additional zspheres are added - including link spheres! this allows a quick build up without having to switch between "q" and "w". turning off symmetry at one point adds to irregular shape. i made the rocks using adaptive skinning at low-res, the vegetation was done after scaling a rather fat zspheretree down. vegetation was inspired by Mentats great vegetation-tool (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=010264&p=1).
looks like it works fine as a quick grass-maker as well (well, with our beloved fiberbrush at hand we dont need that, but such a tool might be easier to handle for some purposes :D):

for those who care you can download it here (http://www.cyber-webs.com/zbrush/juandel/ZSpherebushzsphere.ztl) (unskinned for small size - you might want to skin it and apply texture25 :))
hope that you might find this helpful.
