I've done a search and read every helpful hint I could find on the intricacies of "merge layers", and I'm still bewildered over an extreme case I seem to have made for myself. I have a sculpture sitting on a floor plane. The plane is at a fairly acute angle to the picture plane and protrudes well into Z-space. The sculpture rises up pretty far back. I'm trying to merge the sculpture to another bit of structure which I built onto its back, but when I merge layers, I get the weird boolean effect again. I've tried moving all elements as far forward as I can in the level modifiers, I've tried every variation on ZAdd and ZSub, and I'm no closer to getting a satisfactory merge. I'm confused!
