This is the digital element of a piece I'm doing for an art show... let's see how it goes

elarcano, this really caught my attention. It reminded me of a Predator fused with an Alien design.

Really like the detail on the back of the head. Braided/patterned detail, looks very cool.

The face is unique-looking, and the raised bits around the eyes and forehead make it look outstanding.

And I like the elongated neck. OK... I like all of it! It rocks. :tu:

Thanks Inspired! I'm very glad you liked it :tu:
Yes, I have to admit that it has something gigerish to it ;)

Here's the colored version

elarcano, creepy colours. Love the expression on its face.

The bloody severed detail of the neck is... gruesome! I bet it has a hell of a bite.

Excellant.

How will it be presented at the show? Printed? On an LCD? Rapid Prototype?

Inspired, thanks again :D

Rapid prototype... hmmmmm, well, you see Bill, that would be very cool, but I haven't heard of any place that can do that here in Peru -so that's out of the question-
I'll go with the good old printed presentation... now, I have no idea how it's going to come out because it's the first time I'm going to print something that has come out Zbrush

Here's another image just for fun. It's not how it's going to look at the end, but I was just playing around with this little bugger that represents death -sort of  -

Hi Elarcano!

That thing is truly scary! I like the organic feel it has. The two different skin textures on the face work really well. I'm very curious how it will turn out.
One thing maybe: I was staring at his teeth and it seemed to me that they look fused together. Are two of them part of the upper jaw and the other two part of the lower? Just trying to understand what it would look like if that mouth opened. (don't know if I dare to whatch that ;))
I think it would make a nice representation of Death. It reminded me of a musical piece by composer Benjamin Britten: "Serenade". In that work is set among other things an eery poem by William Blake (1757-1827):

O Rose, thou art sick!
The invisible worm
That flies in the night,
In the howling storm,

Has found out thy bed
Of crimson joy:
And his dark secret love
Does thy life destroy.

elarcano, great use of colour on the eyes!

Plakkie is spot on about the 'organic' feel.

Again Inspired, thanks for your comments -really appreciate it- :tu:

Plakkie, hey buddy
Well, about the way's going to turn out isn't going to be all that "flashy" in a 3D model sense. It's the main element of the print, but the model it self is not that important as the beheading of of the character -death- so the model won't be shown at it's full "glory"

Actually the title of the Thread is based on John Donne (http://cs1.mcm.edu/~rayb/holy_sonnets.htm)'s Holy Sonnet X: Death, Be Not Proud:

Death, be not proud, though some have callèd thee

Mighty and dreadful, for thou art not so;

For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow

Die not, poor death, nor yet canst thou kill me.

From rest and sleep, which yet thy pictures be,

Much pleasure, then from thee much more, must low

And soonest our best men with thee do go,

Rest of their bones and soul's delivery.

Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings and desperate men

And dost with poison, war and sickness dwell,

And poppy or charms can make us sleep as well

And better than thy stroke; why swell'st thou then ?

One short sleep past, we wake eternally,

And death shall be no more; death, thou shalt die.

Oh! And good spot on the teeth :tu: Made me go back to the "drawing board" ;)

Here's a warning to any other monster that tries to take me to the other side

Great model, the texture really gives him a creepy look
btw you should fix the link in your signature to this thread since it only has a link on "and" and it leads to your other thread "diary of a vswip" (wich i followed and learn a thing or two from it, just didn't have anything productive to say :o )

keep up the good work

Ok, here's the final image... obviously it has PhotoShop retouched all over :D

Hope you like it

Nice job buddy! It looks seriously sick (haven't said that before, have I?) and that specularity gives it a nice cold look. Is this the picture that will be shown at that art show? If not, I'd like to see the final composition if possible. And do tell us what the visitors think of it. :D

Hi Plakkie buddy ;)

Well yes, it's the final image. I thought it would turn out in another environment, more like a classic dead/still nature kind of image, but then I wanted to emphasize the concept of the character -Death / who's suppose to be "inmortal"- for it self and it's relationship with a mystic realm -it's no coincidence that it's looking upwards into infinity-
Ironically it has a kind of a submission look, the kind of submission sense that comes out from almost every being after they have died -some may call it the serenity of death or the absence of life-.
The paradox lies within the idea that Death will -or can- die also, therefor... death shall -or could- be no more

-I kinda pity the poor thing-

I decided instead of printing it -ink and glossy paper- it's going to be put through a photo developing process and at the end it will be printed just as a photo. That way the colors are more truthful to the monitor's colors (RGB) and it will last longer -thinking of the buyer's best interest... or the solitare unnoticed corner in my moms house

PS.
If I hear any comments, I'll post them ;)

I had to read twice before I could grasp the moral depths behind this picture! I can only say it works through in the final result. Art is not only skill and craft, but also having a bit to say and thinking about the nature of things. So: a deep bow to you, and looking forward to your next project. (And for the audience reactions, like: "Yuk!" or "AAAGHK!")

Well, I had some problems with the photo-revealed process... it came out to dark, so I had to change the background... now I'm having trouble with the framing part  ... it's funny... because no matter how much I try to make things work, there's always something that comes back and bites me... anyway... here's the final image... unless something else happens

Ahhh, the irony... The guy who was supposed to frame the picture ended up scratching it with the glass!... so I had to revele it again and frame it and deliver it to the art gallery...
I don't mind spending a year working on something... but the are some stages of the work process that you cannot control -like the printing or the framing-... that's the part that always get's me stressed up!... anyway... made very minor adjustments.

and Death shall be no more +-The Final-+ copy.jpg

Elixir, thanks! That was kinda the idea ;)

Pilou, not for now, just an image for a picture to hang around the gallery... although, sometime in the future, yes, it's going to be a full sculpture.

Thanks everybody who took the time to post something :tu:

I'll like you to make textures, we are of the same kind!

I just remembered to answer Plakkie's request for any comments on the image the opening day in the art gallery.

The funny thing is that after I went through hell and back to get the picture revealed and framed, I sent it to the gallery and a few days later I got a call from the gallery saying that the mage started to fold between the back of the frame and the glass... so I had to glue it to the back for it to be all nice and flat... the problem is that when I glued it the back of the frame had some lumps and I had to reveal it again! But is was all good, because I spent that whole night ajusting somethings that didn't seemed so clear in the photo relveal process.

and Death shall be no more -The Final-.jpg

I did the adjustments because the machine that makes the photo development tends to be a bit darker than it seems on the screen.

So I went back to glue it on a glass -no bumps ;) - and with a lot of help from a good old woman that I like to call mom it was done... and just in case... I did the framing this time

So Plakkie, on the opening day I got some very good compliments on my image but most of all I spent some time talking to my colleges about zbrush and the possibilities it offers... you don't see to much 3D art around here and I felt some pride about the image being so different than any other piece that night :tu: -in a good way I mean  -

seedspawn, I'm very flatter and it's awesome that it inspired you to keep on zbrushing, thanks a lot pal!

k0sm1k, Gracias de nuevo Hermano :tu:

Serge Barty, I quite don't understand what you ment, but thanks for posting anyway ;)

Death, So you almost won this one, but finally your image was exhibt  ... see you when the lung cancer comes around

Thanks to all who took the time to post, I really appreciate it :tu: :tu:

PS.

Don't worry, there will be no more "adjusments" on the image
