This picture was inspired by the local mine pits. In these parts they used to mine lead and zinc. There is a park just down the road that has a large lake (once a mine pit) in its center. The pits tend to have steep sides and large outcroppings of underwater ledges that often appear as islands along the shore when the water level goes down. Some of them have crystal clear waters and you can see fifteen feet or more down on a clear day... a very intimidating site when looking down the lengths of those outcroppings as they plunge many feet below into the depths. Some of them are green as green can be due to oxidating minerals in the floor of the pit. Still others are consider "bottomless" as they have a thin mud/silt bottom that extends for dozens of feet and will engulf anything that may settle there. Many of them are excellent bass fishing sites!

You have a real talent for landscape Lonnie, and I hope you intend to explore the subject more... ;)

As a stone worker, my only suggestion would be to make the rock surfaces in the foreground a little more random...There is a rather regular pattern on them. Maybe a little random painting?

Great work!! :tu:

Hi Menta :tu: :tu: :tu:
Just a little lightless on the top of water-rocks, they seem "burnt"

the rocks aren't really doing it for me, duno why, they just aren't. However, the shrubbery and water is REALLY agreeing with me!

I'm not sure which I like better, you figures or landscapes. You do such a great job with both, and this is no exception :tu:

I can see you're starting to get addicted to landscapes Mentat!

Equally as good as you're character images!

Keep it up!
