Hello, and sorry if i'm asking about something been already discussed (i've searched the whole forum but haven't found the exact answer to my question :().

I've started using ZB a few days ago, got acquainted with the interface etc, and yesterday wanted to make a model of a camel's head - in some 2 hours I saved a document, and then in 15 minutes, when I wanted to save for the second time, ZB had crashed :(, but I still had a copy of a saved before document.

The next day I wanted to continue my modelling session but realized that I just can't "select" the camel's head mesh, at least the way it's done in 3DSMAX . From what I've read in the forums - it seems you need to perform something like a Snapshot in order to be able to continue modeling, is it right? And does it mean my camel's head model is now just a 2D-image and there's no chances to continue modelling? :(

Please help...

Hi there Mandrake, welcome on board.

In Zbrush, in order to save an object for future manipulation you need to save it via the tool pallett as apposed to the document pallett. This will actually save it as a ztl file which is a Zbrush tool then at any time you can re call that tool back into your tool pallett and even work with it some more. When you save the document you save everything in pixols (pixels that carry depth information) so then when you open your document up the image looks 3D but no longer has 3D mesh information attached to it. Be sure to check that you have your newly created tool selected for use when you go to save within the tools pallett.
