Hey guys,

I've been lurking around for a long time, looking at people's work and I finally decided to try out Zbrush. I don't have much experience in 3D graphics, I'm mainly a 2D graphics guy.
This is my first try at making something in Zbrush and so I've messed it up sub division-wise, I'm stuck with roughly 1.6 million polys and I can't go any higher. I didn't have any concept to go by mainly because,

I'm not sure where to find other people's concept art.
I couldn't make my own because I can't draw to save my life.
So, I'm pretty much adding stuff as it pops into my head.

Anyway, onto the model.

I'm kinda stuck for what to add now. I'm also stuck for a skin material that will fit this guy. Basically I'm stuck for everything except a texture, as that's the only thing I definately know how to do :D .

What does everyone think?

Believe me....we all look back on our first posts and go...
"Oh my God, I posted that?" haha sigh mine was quite well ummm let's just say.....oy.

It's not a bad first go at zbrush. We all have to start somewhere and you have started. I'd like to invite you to try out the Practical Guide. It has loads of step by step intructions to help you learn your way around zbrush and see different ways to do things.

Follow around the classroom link in my signature(i think I need to update it) but you should be able to find the link from there to the zclassroom which has loads of goodies to teach you alot of stuff.

Practice and patience and experimenting are what zbrush is all about so let go and enjoy!!
And don't be afraid to post! You already got the hard part out of the way....the first one!

atleast someone cares about beginners... cool model for a first one, what i would suggest is get images of muscles, it helped me very much, here's some links:

image3 (http://ns.gov.gu/icons/muscle1.jpg)
image4 (http://www.theacornschool.com/new_images/muscles.gif)

now, what i would say is that when making some alien character's body or its face you have to include that he does have muscles or his face/body wont move, study those pictures for a couple of moments and then try another one, see the musce flow any study how movement, contraction of muscles work, remember, no muscles = no life/movement

IS IT REALLY BAD? http://www.pixolator.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=36203

I would say that it looks to be too gemotric. Try and give it a little more organic feel. Have a look at some insect anatomy.. that should help.
