Hi entropy.

Apparently even though Zpheres are in the public domain as they have been released as the ZBrush premier edition, no one seems to be allowed to talk about them...

So perhaps you could explain exactly what meta balls are.

I've seen a carrara description of meta balls and theirs sort of stick together when they get close to each other. that doesn't sound quite like zspheres from what I've seen. But maybe other software uses the name metaballs as well?

As far as I can tell it was being sold at macworld and siggraph but I think you had to be there.

Hi Entropy
Go there on the fourth post to see what is exactly Zsphere :) http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=006270&p=8
I think that sphere or Zsphere are polygon of deformation :)
Ask to Aurick Moderator for technic information.

ZSpheres are a new tool that is unique to ZBrush. They are not like metaballs in any way. Frenchy's link has the best information about them that can be given at the moment.

Version 1.5 will be available to all registered users of version 1.23b within the next two weeks. We'll be sending everyone instructions at that time for how to receive your free upgrades.

For anyone who doesn't yet own ZBrush, version 1.23b will still be available at the introductory price of $292.50 until version 1.5 is released. At that time, ZBrush's price will increase to $399. So anyone who buys between now and then will be able to save over $100!.

Ack. The estimated release date keeps slipping away faster and faster... I think it's been two weeks for four weeks now. Ah well, I can't even use my 1.23b while waiting because I had to re-register and my new registration file has not been emailed to me :(! Anyway, the zsphere looks great! I can't wait to try it out myself!

Hey EZ - that was probably the geekiest, yet very funny, ZSphere gag yet.

 :D

why thank you LOL it wasn't ment as a gag but anyways LOL if you notice how long the sphere got in a fake way with out being Pixolated i thought was a good idea.
and if you notice how it was set in a 45 degree angel which would show the most pixolation = jaged edges was pretty smooth wasn't it ?
far as another 2 weeks i personly thought it would be right after siggraph for the new version i don't see why one would have to wait as the person above said if it was tested and used in siggraph it seams they were ready and confident to use it then so why wait 2 weeks.
if its about saving a 100 bucks let the dead line be in 2 weeks but let pervious owner get it now..
just a thought

EZ I was at Siggraph and actually talked to the Pixologic team. Although they have a working version, they are still working on a few more features. Trust me when I say that even though I am also anxious to get my hands on 1.5, the new features and the tweaking they discussed will be well worth the wait. :) In fact, I would rather that they finish things that they want to get done and have a completed program than to have a bunch of patch issues to deal with.
