hey guys i just droped by here to ask a question about 3dmax unwraping.

im a bit familiar with the unwrap modifier in max but no expert i can only unwrap smal basic objects so far.

but my real goal is to unwrap a basic head i make in max so i can paint textures in photo shop after zbrush.

its not that i dont like the method of Zbrush buts its more lik i wanna try multible things of 3d also knowing the real basics.

my question is how do you get these heads to unwrap so nicely like i see on most characters it would be a hell to do this by hand ?
is there any max plug ins maby that you guys use ?
or maby a method in the uv editor im not aware of ?

i would realy like to experiment with this but im having not mutch luck atm so i hope you guys can help me out ! :D

so i can progres and show you guys more work.

thanks in advance Tamis van der Laan ;)

Prayer,

What version of Max are you using? if version 8 then use the Pelt mapping feature...it's very nice and fast too. Link to a video on it below.

If you are using an older version I'm afraid that you are stuck with mapping it by hand...a very tedious job indeed if you have a large poly count. Do a Google search on UV mapping it will reveal some useful tutorials on the subject. You can always download the trial of Max8 and use it to pelt map your model.
