Heres a character I started a few nights ago. Right now, he has a very stylized cartoony body. I'll post some full pics tomorrow. I plan on sticking with the cartoony body, I just have to work out some kinks to make it match the head a little better. Many updates to come!

A monkey's alien cousin.
Nice work - I really like the feel here.

Would perhaps a smoother forhead make a nice comic contrast against the wrinkly face?

Thanks for the feedback

He certainly is a very funny character; well designed and thought out.

Keep up the great work.

I don't know why but this reminds me of the look of the alien character design in M.I.B movies.

Great look to this. A definite "watch this one" thread.

Mikala: Yeah, it does kind of have an M.I.B. feel to it. It kind of reminds me of the aliens from Mars Attack aswell. I wasn't really going for anything in particular, but most of my personal stlyized stuff ends up looking a little Tim Burton'ish =)

Heres a small update. I'm gonna start working on his pet soon, which im really excited about =)

wow, the pose itself gives the character so much life, very nice, although it doesnt really look like it, but it almost reminds me of the movie "mac and me" dont know if anyone knows this movie, but it reminds me of childhood, weeeeeeeird.... haha good work

Another small update. The plan from here is to update the shirt, pet, and cane in Zbrush, and then begin texturing.

Loving this. The pose reminds so much of a test done to tease the crew at 'Jim Henson's' by a young woman that worked for me a ways back - 'The Moon Toad'. Had a similar cane, only 1 leg of course and also similar clothing from waste down, no pet though.

This is not to imply anything, it just brought back a great memory of a great character. Thanks. ;)

I'de love to see it. Let me know if you know where I could find it.

Hahaha, well I don't have much from that project unfortunately. And with that company deceased, I have no access. Found a frame from that time, used for an ad in Animation Magazine. Best I could do, I may have a full video from 2003 Filmart Hong Kong around, I'll look. ;)

A suggestion. I always find the patterns in nature to be the coolest. I'd mute the colours a bit for your folla and put the bright colours on the extremities. ;)

EDIT: This include clothing, buildings, etc.

Great Suggestion!
I'll post some results later.

In the park with other people walking their dogs. If you're really into it have them all staring with various expressions. With a space around your characters defining the natural way people act. ;)

Of course, you could just put them on an alien beach with 3 suns, purple water, orange waves, black sands, ooooh wait, that's probably been done a million times.... ;)
