My first time actually posting work here :)

This is a head I started sculpting today (had a base already made). I've been having problems trying to do decent skin pores and other details, they just haven't been coming out right. Tried doing techniques I saw in the 'artists in action' videos such as making the stencil, but again, didn't look right.

(just noticed from this render the neck is looking a bit thin, didn't notice when I was sculpting hehe)

are you using reference?
a big mistake people can make is not using enough reference.... i would suggest getting a folder with a number of shots of guys the same age group that you are trying to achieve here, and really studying their skin flow while you sculpt.

Your details are perhaps looking overly pinched / indented.

Trying playing around with the shape and focus of your editing brush.

That said sharp editing like this can be very stylistically effective in the right context. Depends whether your after realism or style?

A good tip is to create a morph target before editing and brush back in with the morph brush if you "over egg the pudding."
