With a name like Van der Laan, you must be from Holland, just like Prayer and me. Perhaps we live in the wrong country for the things we like to do most. At the moment I'm 3D-ing for my hobby, but is there much work on that front in the Netherlands? Just curious. It will be interesting how that new course at the GLA will be... will it be professional, or something that can't compete with the schools in the States, etc. How long is that course 'Game Design?'

Ah looks cool but GLA is mbo right ? Allready did MBO Application developer, am now on HVA Interactive media. But was also looking to maybe switch to a 3d education, only thing i found where SAE and CMM which are only expensive course, and the result from the students was not really good.

Is this the first year on GLA ? I could not see any results from the students :(
I wonder how good it is, and if they have some proper classes.

I Think in Eindhoven was another Game design education only that was a bit dissappointing, the quality of what they where doing was very low.

they do have proper classes when talking about becoming a multimedia designer when you have no experiance at al even no with a computer.
the fact about our school is most people know there way around we even have to correct teachers.
about game designe im realy hoping it wil be good they told us that we wil be working with Maya Xsi softimage wich i think is cool because im a max user.
i just hope we wont start with primatives and stuff boring boring

Hmm i see a lot of people get good jobs without actual certificates, but only with impressive portfolios. I'm not going to any specific 3d art schools but i've learnt a great deal and i'm going to build up a portfolio for rendertime and realtime 3d game (low poly) art. So my view is, a certificate isnt as important as a solid portfolio. Unless you DON'T want to learn everything alone, you gotta suffer the boredom. You choose :)

ofcorse you could do it al alone but going to school learning 3d is actualy fun in my eyes and you learn alot faster aswel.
and alot of things you also learn the proper way
and youl learn about the 3d industrie how it al works
and you also learn how to work for an employer
youl have to write down your work hours aswel make a plan of aprotch and such there is alot to learn i think on 3d schools.

ah here another updat btw moddeling him atm hope you like it.
