This is an experiment to try the spray tools. These matterials were imported as a texture, and then sprayed into the various shapes, then rendered after setting the shadow adjustments.
I was told that I would like the spray tool and I am begining to think I could get to like it. Somehow, using it, I get the feeling that I have lost control over what is happening.

oh but Joe! The foliage and flowers are beautiful!! The size and thickness is just right and I love the pink flowers up front. And your water is inviting as ever!
Looks like you're in full control. Very nicely done. The splatter tool is really nice, but it all depends on what you're using it for. This is perfect. Like anything else you'll find it handy. ~s~ (I'm only going by uses in other programs. Haven't used it too much in z except with the blur tool to make cool backgrounds.

OK, this is good. I knew someone would do this soon, and I wanted to try and do it myself.
There is an American artist who's name is on the tip of my brain! My brain is stuck on 'Parker', and I don't think that is right. (I have an old calendar with his art that I have saved in a box somewhere.) I'm sure someone will help me out. But from the look of your painting, you probably know who I am talking about, since you have almost captured his style. The pinkish clouds in blue sky, the leaves and flowers, the sparkling water. You just need a nymph or a princess, a gnarly tree, and a rocky outcropping lit by the setting sun and you are so there. Then again, maybe you don't know who I'm talking about.
Anyway, this is good, and I would like to see you take it to greatness. :)

I think you're probably thinking of Maxfield Parrish, J-Man.... ;)
Thanks for commenting! unfortunately I do not know the artist you are trying to remember. If the name SC thinks it may be is right, then I will look him up so that I can have a look at his work.
This image was supposed to be an exercise, but a friend of mine says why not try things in an actual project, then if they turn out half good you can post it.
Edit: I just did a Google search for Mr. Parrish and I must say that I am impressed. Looking at some of his works also gave me a lot of ideas to try some of the new features in 1.51 on.
Thanks, for pointing me in that direction. I still do not know if he is the artist you were thinking of, but even if he was not,the search was worth the effort.
DeeVee,
Joe.

Excellent! I really like the foliage effect a lot. The balance in the composition is very good too.
Nicely done, I think it has work very well. :tu: :tu: :tu:

I wouldn't worry too much about the control thing, Joe; theres no evident loss of it in this image! :tu: ;) :tu:
Very nice and effective use of what is so far my favourite among the new tools. I spent a little time this morning experimenting with it, and used it very extensively in an image I posted just moments ago.

you always do something a little bit different with each piece...it is the small nuances that catch my eye....the flowers in this one for example....very nice touch.... :tu: :tu: :tu:
