Hey all shadow gurus (Marcel??)

I can't seem to get a grip on casting shadows on a background plane.

1. create plane in layer one.
2. created and object in layer two.
3. selected the 'zmode' in the light/shadow menu.
4. make sure I am NOT in edit mode.
5. I want the object to cast a shadow onto the background, like in Marcel's last post. I end up with no shadows.

Thanks for the help!!

hi Dooki... the layer's plane has to be very close to the layers with the object... Aurick has written an explanation, but I don't know exactly when...maybe you can try with very simple thgings, in the beginning, one sphere and one plane, and see what happens; don't forget to use a long shadow (in the light palette), and of course to click "shadow" in the render... also, I often rework shadows in post work, after the render, to darker them...

I mean, something like that: just a sphere, and two planes at 90° (more or less), and try in z mode, and no z mode... you see, it works! http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200404/user_image-1081552018zqu.jpg

It looks like you're not turning shadows on in the Render palette. You must also do a Best Render for the shadows to appear.
