View Full Version : 1.5 WIP
It seemed blasphamy incarnate to NOT post the first work in 1.5 (even if it's still a WIP)
This WIP contains a little Zsphereing, many 3D alphas, a new set of alpha brushes I created, and 9 render/export/import/render routines. After the 3rd render, I started "washing" a transparent color step, then render/export to reimport under the same lights. Somewhat like a watercolor technique.
So far so good, my only hiccup is a consistent "Can't read memory allocation block" error message when I change or modify materials. But I have a work around that I figured out about render 5.

Welcome back Sis... ;)
Love the mood, love the stone, love the vines...
Regarding the dark doorway with some apprehension...
 :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:
EDIT: Sneaky update, Kat...I'm watching you know? :p...And now I love the branch and foliage combo...!
Kathy! I knew you would be working on something, but was uncertain as to your posting or not. This is great stuff, I like what I see so far. Certainly the genesis of something great.
Welcome back :ex: just seeing your name changed my mood, Thanks!
Joe
Deevee.
I am so glad to see you back. Looks good...
Yes, I have been watching for you as well, Kathy! Love the heavy roots idea. I started to do something similar when I wanted to do a Hobbit Hole (still 1.23, but I gave up).

Great start Kathy - nice gothic feel to it. :tu:
When's the next update? (Sorry - just a hang-over from the 1.5 pre-release fever...) :D
Looking good, I cant wait for the final version :tu: :tu: :tu:

Hi Kathy, I was thinking you'd fallen off the planet!
Nice mood in this. The vines look creepy-organiclly-wormish alive. Very cool!

GREAT to see YOU back Kat!!!! very nice image...reminds me of the Sleestak temple from the old Sid and Marty Krofft show Land of the Lost.... :tu: :tu:
Here's the finished piece. There's approximately 3 and half hours of render time on this. (don't know if that means I worked hard or my computer is a dog...haha)
I've included closeups of my favorite "corners", where I think the new render mods really kicked some ass.

Beautiful Little Sister, and I'm glad to see my apprehension was unjustified, and the doorway concealed no menace! :) ;)
Naturally as a lapidary I love your stone texture, and the details are wonderful as well...And I almost forgot to add that that 'watercolor' effect is really nice...The pale violet 'wash' is really nice, in the way it warms up the scene...

This is excellent!! I really like the texturing and the water! is sublime!!! Exceptional details.. :tu: :tu:
Nice going Kathy :ex: It is such a joy to see your work dieplayed here again. Thank you so much for sharing.
DeeVee,
Joe. :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :)

Your textures are wonderful Kathy. The new rendering capabilities of 1.5 are gorgeous. I've noticed increased render times myself. But it's worth it. Also forces one to choose, with more care, the moment of the test render. :D
I almost missed the water without the closeup, it's so clear. Love the sunrays shining down into the pool. And the fine cracks in the wall and roots.
You post seldom, but it's always worth looking at, Kat.
PS: Email me! I lost your address again.

Original image with beautiful detail in the rendering, Kathy. Thanks for the close-ups - I too had missed the water, and it was nice to see the moth in more detail.

Wow, this is coming along beautifully. the way you've done the water and simulated the volumetric lighting is wonderful.
