That's right. Can't remember the last time I did such a thing. I've placed an entry into Renderosity's "New Beginnings" contest for their new magazine. This is how I spent my whole New Year's vacation.

I began with the intention of using ZBrush for the entire project. But I ran into difficulties with my experiments at creating an image at 2550 x 2984 pixels. My computer can't handle it. I did however, use ZBrush for for modeling the plant "trunk." I then brought it into StudioPro for rendering. The image is lacking the texture detail I wanted to give it in Zbrush, but I like how it turned out.

Due to contest rules, I can only give a link to the page it resides on, I'm entry number 117. (http://www.renderosity.com/contest.ez?contest_id=31&Start=108#Question) Let me know what you think.

Wishing everyone a happy New Year!

Adman! lovely piece.

Reminds me of that one photographer's work. I forget her name. She puts babies inside vegetation...hmmmmmmmm.

Dangit! Her stuff is really popular.

But I digress.

The vegetation is gorgeous. Victorian greens, antigue highlights. Just beautiful.

The best of luck to a VERY talented ZBC member!

Wow. If I didn't know any better, I'd think you created this as a porcelein sculpture and then photographed it. Amazing sense of realism to this, with absolutely perfect lighting and colors. Whether it wins or not, it's a masterpiece.

(By the way, it's #122)

Thanks everyone, for the kind words.

Aurick, thanks for the entry number update. Someone must have been deleted. I've changed my original post to 122.

Christos, glad to hear "culture shock" is being featured. It's well-deserved! :tu: :tu:

What a wonderful Image you created! As soon as I saw it, it reminded me of one of my favorite artist Ann Geddes. Wonderful work :)

Just thought I'd edit the subject line. Voting is for Renderosity members only and the process of placing your vote is a bit cumbersome.

I guess you can bet who I voted for. ;)

P.S. Anybody else from our forum have an entry? If so, I'd sure like to see it. It's kind of tough plowing through all the images.

Adman Adman Adman, I dont know what to say.

I could say talented, I could say beautiful but in fact there is just no way to describe that entry in Renderosity.

Excellent work, keep it up :tu: :tu: :tu:

It definitely got my vote. Partly because I love the style -- sort of a cross between Geddes and Hummel. But also because it looks so darned much like a photograph of a figurine. The feeling of being both stylized and photorealistic is something that you just don't see every day!
