View Full Version : Need help with deformers
Ok, I'm finishing up the detailing on his torso and arms, but my gut is telling me that his forearms are too long. Is there any way to shorten his wrist area without deforming his hands at all? Any help would be greatly appreciated. And any other comments or suggetions too. I need a fresh look at him.
Thanks in advance.

Bro, your model looks great...
I think you can ge away with the fore-arm length. When you add more details there are three muscles that form a bundle on the underside which are : the pronator teres, the palmaris longus, and the flexor carpi ulnarus.
If you tie these into the wrist and show the overlay of tendons in the hand feeding into them it will create more of a flow.
If you have experience in other platforms like Maya and XSI and you really want to shorten the forearm it is very easy to do.
1. Go to the around 40,000 poly sudivision and export as obj.
(at 40,000 you will still keep the details of your form)
if losing the details is not important go to the lowest sub and export as it will be easier this way.
2.Select rows of poly faces in component mode and simply delete.
(don't forget to delete history on object as well)
3. Attach edges and export back to Zbrush.
You will need to re-do your uv's as you have made changes to the number of vertices.
Hope that helps.
Thanks for the advice odhinn. I actually made the base model in XSI so I can import him back in and fix it easily that way. I was just afraid of losing detail. I exported an obj at the highest resolution and it was 40 mb! I got it into XSI but for some reason he's all black in shaded mode and I can only see his sillouette. I tried inverting normals, headlight, asigning a new material, nothing works. I'm stumped. The thing is, I HAVE to get him back into XSI because somehow I lost symetry in Zbrush and the only way I know how to fix it is in XSI. I'd really rather not lose any detail but I'll try exporting at a lower resolution. Thanks for the help.
You can fix the symmetry problem in Zbrush...
Lower your sub level to lowest one and mask one side of model.
Use "smart symmetry" function and presto... done.
No need to leave Zbrush platform for that bro, If your subs don't go low enough press "renconstruct" button.
Wow, thanks again! I love this app and I love this forum!
No problem...
Lots of people help me, glad to help you.
