Hello,

My name is Fred Bastide and It's my first post here, at Zbrushcentral.

This work is the first I've finished using Zbrush.

The female monster was roughly modelised using max, subdivised and refined with zbrush.

I've used the Zapplink combined with photoshop to paint textures.

Thats fantasitc, great job modeling, texturing, and lighting! Did you model the other elements in the composition in ZB as well or is it a photo-montage? Would love to see a tutorial:)

Nice to see something "different" for a change. It's not pretty but it's cool.

Tecchnically impressive and just chock full of whimsy. It reminds me of the film "Delicatessen" for some reason...: ) A fine example of why Z-Brush is the
tool of choice for today's illustrators.

5 stars and a tip of the hat for Top Row...

Dickie

p.s. what did you render it in?

Bravissimo Texx, great atmosphere, and beautiful render, which engine are you used for this?

It's a shame the top of the image is cropped out, still a great image though...:D

Haha. Beautiful. Such a natural looking scene, makes it work. I'd love some pickled eyeballs, mmmmmmmmmm.... ;) Blue are my favorite!

The only thing I'd mention is that she has very little harsh specularity that is present in the rest of the scene.

Great concept to final work, we love to see that here.

And, Welcome. ;)

amazing illustration and I agree, hilarious! that "fat pile of pink" has the same "quality" than what she's actually selling, she really looks like a chunk of meat haha this works so well. I just noticed the hand and ears, eyes on the counter haha nice touch. Great lighting as well, maybe you can explain your choice of cropping the image this way? I assume you wanted to draw attention to the mouth and emphasizing the fact that it's really a huge mouth with no eyes, taking part for the head.

keep sharing,
pierre

Thank you far all the comments !

ELixir: yes, it was human ears.

Dickie and Bas Mazur, Ilusiondigital: This image is principally rendered with mentalray, a combination of a standard render and an occlusion pass. No GI, but a final gather.

I've used zbrush principally for the monster, modelling and texturing.

Buckie : The cropping of the image could be conciderated as a weird choice: I will show the female monster as something completly annoying and usual. So the point of view don't focus completly on the creature, but partially on the display.

=Blaknull== I have previously planned to use more recognisable human parts in the dipaly. I've finally choosen to be a little more subtle, and partially hide them.

Wonderful stuff man. It's one of those images I can just stare into for a bit and really feel like I'm looking into another world. Your 'Uncle Cthulu' is one of my favorite pieces of digital art, so when I saw this it caught my eye immediately.

I like the concept, too-- cool illustration technique. Was this inspired by the "Hitchiker's Guide" series? haha- The Carniceria at the Edge of the Universe!

Am wondering the reasons you went with pointy fingers (the concept finger is more related to her bulk... and, um, species? :), but the scene is killer!

Convincing work on harsh light at a difficult angle. :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:
