View Full Version : Fiberbrush and HookBrush Exercise
My favorite brush is the fiberbrush, it never fails to amaze me as to it's capabilities. After creating the "another sea" script I began doodling to see how the sea would look with a few things added. The leaves at the top of the image were done using the Fiberbrush. For those at the bottom the HookBrush was used.
The more you play with these brushes the more of their capabilities are unravelled http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1023165411jpx.jpg

The fiber brush is one of my favorite tools too Joe! And I am partial to the hook brush for creating foilage as well.

very nice Joe..the foliage set the water off very nicely....you know its funny you and M7 are speaking about those 2 tools...I pulled off the side of the road a few minutes ago and picked some wild flowers and blooming weeds...I am going to scan them for use with Z..but I was thinking in terms of how to do this in Z when we were picking them...funny how this program encompasses most everything visual I see these days..... :tu: :tu: :tu: :tu:
I also love the hook-brush. You can achieve so much with it. If you create a fine enough alpha, you can even create some hair/fur effects. I used it to create the flaps of skin under the neck on my dragon head/lizard man, whatever you call him.

as always joe your scenes are breath taken..me loves it.
Nice work Slosh, fantastic work.
To do this image I did a basic lay out of the shapes. I then imported a bark Alpha and painted the branches, when these were done I used the SnakeHook brush to do the Branches/root/tendrils thingies.
The leaves were done with the fiberbrush with antigravity at 80. thickness was 4 and shape 3. Interesting! Can anyone see DV in the shapes? If you do, raise your hand !

You should check out this technique ZOID pointed out on this thread... http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=005941
A little 'tweeking' of the Contrast graph, as he outlines here, might surprise you!

I think you improved the depth effect in the second version, Joe... :tu:
Ron I had not received your indication of where DV was. It is not deevee but DV, and it is almost center to the left of the leaves.
You certainly have good eyes that does spell deevee, so maybe it is there at more places than I was aware.
EDIT:Thanks for the tip SC, I think I prefer the second image also.
This is where it is Folks ! http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1023233536djj.jpg

Fantastic curly, barky, rooty image there DeeVee. A real treat. Very rich and visually interesting. :tu: :tu:
I am thinking of putting a background to this image, do you think it is necessary? personally I think that without a background the image looks unfinished. Any thoughts ?
