My first failed attempt at GI rendering! I was impressed with the renders at Pixologic so its only fitting that my first pic post is a test of the new render in 1.5
Kudis to Pix and crew for making this kind of rendering affordable :tu: :tu:
Render time was 45:12 on a p3 550 (OUCH!)
Rays 236, Aperture 177, Shadow length and intensity both max at 100 & 500.
So can I please get some advise on antialiasing? I fooled around with the setting but could not make any percievable difference out. Does antialiasing only work on best render? Also what does the "Z Mode" on the shadow settings do?
Any advise is greatly appreciated 'cause I realy want to get good at doing this kind of rendering.

I would like to see someone advise on Anti-aliasing as well.

The only comment I have on the pic is that the background plane makes it look like the object is mounted on a wall, or the camera is looking straight down on it.

Rotating the plane back 70-80 degrees would make it look like the object is on a table.

Hey nice job, it gets easier as you go I assure you!

And yes, anti-aliasing will only appear in best render. If your just doing test renders, I wouldn't bother about it, as it adds so much time to your overall render time. Although, if you would like to use some, try a sampler of 2 (this means it scans over the image twice and reduces jagged edges) With a maximum of 4 Samples, you will get the best results, however the render time is insane.

Try combining full anti-aliasing, with 500 rays(in the shadow section of the lighting pallette), you better be prepared to leave your computer on overnight!
