Hi dear community,
time for another piece, I thought. Its dedicated to someone special and I worked on it with soaring enthusiasm. I´ve gone some of the "good old" ways, those very handy techniques I easyly forget about all the monsterhead-modeling, but also some of the actual and popular things like rendering different passes to compose them inside PS. Any of your comments is very welcome:

I used 3 types of plants to populate the ground behind the fence (rest of bg is a photograph):

it took a lot of time according to that small part of the image, but it was a good exercise. To save me work i used a adjusted depthgrab of the fence layer as a stencil, i just needed the room between the fence plank.
the fence itself was quite an easy job:

I took a Plane3D (init-parameter for x/y-res changed to 6) and made a polymesh out of it. Then I hid all poys except one row, deleted the hidden parts andpressed tool->deformation->unify to bring that row to center. After that I stored the morphtarget and displaced the row in z-direction by -5 and clicked morphtaret->create difference. That will result in a new tool with appropriate edgeflow for later dividing. then texturing and at the end at a high subdiv-lvl using the texture or a modified version of it as mask to deform (deformation->inflate) the tool with the cares of the wood-tex.
The screws in the fence are made of pure jantim-metal :)
The butterfly was the most fun part and I recorded a ZScript how I modeled the base with zspheres. I hope it runs without errors and you can enjoy watching!

The details are really nice, I like how it starts to look like a pencil drawing up close. The clover is so green an fresh while the wood is so dry and the butter fly is crisp and delicate. A nice place to rest my eyes...

mathieu77: Its quite an easy job, thanks to ZBrush capability to paint and deform at the same time, although its not necessary. I drop the model and project a texture of a plank by using the DirectionalBrush. To do that i switch to DragRect stroke turn on only rgb with 100%, draw it and strech it using scale-mode so that it fitsonto the model. Then i place a marker, that stores placement and streching. Next i choose either the texture, make an alpha out of it, or I import an adjusted b/w version of the texture as alpha. Still having DirectionalBrush chosen, I turn off rgb and turn on ZAdd and click with on the marker. The result should be an exact carving of the model. Then I hit "G" for PM and pick the model up with color and deformation on, fade and normalize off.
I hope I explained it cleary enough :)

You once again have proven yourself the master of wood, I'll never forget when you first posted your wood materials, those were just the coolest I had ever seen. I am a little bummed. I am not seeing anything in the zscript. I can see something is going on, and the tool is changing, but nothing is happening on the canvas. Anyone else run into this problem? I had really hoped to see this. Still, I am amazed at this. It is nice to see something a bit different. I am in awe of all of the very detailed models I see, and then this comes along and it is refreshing to see Zbrush used this way also. Simply elegant and beautiful.

I have to thank you all, you people made my day with all your kind and motivating comments! You confirm that i put my efforts into the right thing. Thats very important for me and gives me energy and motivation to continue. Thank you all!
Monstermaker: I`m very apreciated to hear such words from one of my favourite and most inspiring artists. But master of woods is way too much, really ;)
Dave: I took DepthGrabs of every layer, exported them to PS and adjusted levels to maximum. That makes it possible to cut out the fence, the plant and the butterfly out of the grey background. You load the Color-pass render into PS, create a new channel and paste the b/w-mask (adjusted depthgrab-alpha). After that you can Select->Load Selection and choose the new alpha channel. You should then have a proper selection depending on the alpha.
If all the grey color is removed and the elements are seperated, I load the backgroundimage and start tweaking, in this case with a lot of trial and error. I tried different bg images with different lightning and I always needed an analog lightning in the colorpasses -it took alot of time to get a result i could live with :)

Dave, Marcus: Sry that the script doesnt run without errors, the original version did only run correctly on my system. With the help of a friend I could make some modification at the start, so that it was running on his system. I suppose that it hast to do with my modified interface, maybe with the placement of pluginbuttons. Thanks alot for editing the script, Marcus. :tu::tu::tu: I hope that solved the problem.

How is a "DepthGrab" accomplished. Thanks
you choose the MRGBZGrabber tool and grab the whole canvas. If you now have a look at the alpha palette youll find a greyscale-depth representation of your layer that you can now export.
There are also more elgant ways that I didnt go for some stupid reason ;)

froyd I know there are some dvd's on how to use zbrush but one dvd on the way you use zbrush to create the natural elements of nature and your use of serenity with a touch of the rustic I think would be a nice welcome.
