Zi in her third stage. Costume is considered completed. Next stage is Texturing.

OK, good start. I would suggest attention to detail before texturing, especially edges of cloth and especially where they contact the skin. Essentially everything you have added is too soft, not of the same level as the body you utilized. Just my observation from what you have posted of course. Without sketches, before samples, and knowledge where you are going with this, it's always hard to give constructive advice. ;)

Yes, I think the boot and glove edges are too soft. I'm using a singular mesh model.
Looking with hind sight now, I'm not so sure it's a good idea as I can't get enough polygons to get sharper details. Also the texture map at 4096 is still too small for close-ups as the smearing is too evident back in lightwave.

I'm not too sure about breaking up the model into head, arms, legs, torso and using crease in ZB. Have you encountered mesh separation when animating these kind of models?

Would appreciate some pointers here how to best restructure my work flow. This character will be animated, mostly wide, medium and medium close shots. Definitely nothing close-up to the face and such.

Regards,
Vincent.

Edit: This model is already 3.5 million polys and I can't go any higher.

You have plenty of polys for the detail required. Try the pinch tool. I tend to stay away from pieces, but others will extol the virtues. Don't know that much about Lightwave processes. ;)
