Now that I finally understand that unified skin is the way to go, here a first WIP. Still some work needed on the ZSpheres before I start scuplting it.

EDIT: I almost forgot, thanks to Mentat7 for the tips :)

Can you tell me how you did the hands and fingers???????

Every time I try it my mesh is all messed up.

Thanks :)

DeeVee, yes I was thinking about an action figure I've on my desk at work while modelling :)

dfaris, here's a close up of the hand. Basically it was just a lot of tweaking until it looked more or less like a hand.

Thats a great job, what sort of settings did you use for the skinning. Every time I have tried it I lose practically all the fingers. :tu: :tu: :tu:

Great model! I love your way of doing hands, I may have to try that technique.

Dave, if you are finding you are loosing all details from the fingers, you need to use higher resolution zspheres when creating the fingers and hand.

For example, create your entire figure normally as you would, then when it comes time to add hands and feet, fingers and toes, slide the 'resoultion' slider right up to 256. (you can find the resolution slider under "tools:Modifiers:inventory

Then apply a 'unified' skin. You should find a dramatic increase in the quality of your fingers (or any other region where you used a higher resolution ZSphere)

I usually use high resolution zspheres for my feet, hands, fingers, toes, and head region.

Skinning is unified skinning at maximum resolution. Other unified skin parameters at default values.

MJ, is the resolution setting on a sphere by sphere basis? I think it applies to the whole skin.
