View Full Version : Dawn cast
I tried to go less tropical and more like where I live. I tried to make a scruffy cedar there on the right, but failed miserably, so went with the next most popular sight around here... a snag (dead cedar) ~G~
I had worked on this for hours ******** around mostly with that tree, finally I was happy with it and decided some folage down at the base would balance it well... Z decided it didn't want to do that. Touch the snake hook brush to the canvas and it shut down... four times in a row. So, no bush.

Sweet Picture --lovely mood and colour and action-NICE !! :tu: :tu: :tu:
I like it a lot.
Sorry about the crash. I swear that some of my very best work has been lost from crashes.
I have changed graphics cards I have a Pentium 1G and 768 ram and a 40G hard drive and it still crashes.
Anyway you have to put in some work on the foliage prevalent in your area.
Keep up the good work, I really enjoy looking at them.
DeeVee,
Joe.
DLee,
I know those ol z-crash woes. I can relate.
However, I think your image is beautiful even without the bush! :D The colors are wonderful and the fisher person is magic. Very awesome!

Thanks guys. You always know how to make my day ~s~
As for crashing I'm learning... slowly but learning. When ever I use the snake hook brush I save first ~G~

Nice painting DLee - the jetty and the fisherman are excellent. :tu:
Just speculating - but might the crash with the snakehook brush be related to demands imposed by the canvas size you're working at? I've been experimenting with that brush a lot recently trying to improve my tree drawing, and it hasn't crashed on me once. My PC is quite modest: 450 MHz, Win 98SE, 256Mb RAM and 5Gb free disk space, but I tend to work at a lot smaller canvas size than many guys on this forum - often the default size. Just a thought.
Might be flycatcher, I usually work at 1000 - 1500. I don't change any settings on the snakehook other than size so can't see that being a problem. I like working on a bigger canvas, but maybe that's a mistake.

Hi DLee - I didn't mean to imply that working on a bigger canvas is a mistake, in fact I'm sure it's the right way to go. I just wondered if that was why you were getting crashes and I wasn't.
The only reason I usually work on a small canvas size is because as a total newcomer to painting or modelling anything "freehand" I find it easier to practice if I have the whole canvas readily visible at one time. Once I gain more confidence, I will undoubtedly move up to larger sizes.
