The sword model from Deus Ex Machina inspired me to do a gold shader in Z. Maybe this is helpful for someone. The shader is based on one of Jantims shaders, big thanks for these!

Why did i not think of that ...i tweaked mine from the gold.mat in the material pack :D

its not a so pure gold as your's...more a sort of gold-copper metal !
But perhaps its nice to use them together !

this is my foolsgold :

and here it's rendered in the same light with yours :

Thanks for all the great replies :-) good to see it in use.:tu:

haha Jantim, thanks. Love your metal mats, have learnt more from studying them than from the user guides. I have found that the mat section is not really covered in depth in the tuts and guides (I still dont know the exact effect of the noise modes for example, neither from the special shaders such as gradients).

On the other hand i think the rendering section is rarely used up to its full potential, when i look at the renders people post. Its not a node based system but still quite powerful! Since i havent got any other renderer (except yafray, which i dont like too much), i would love to explore that part a bit more.

Cheers
E.

PS: I want an SSS shader in Z!!!! But thats probably impossible bearing in mind that the back of models dropped to canvas ceases to exist.

Yes, Erklaerbar...there is not a lot of specific information how all the shaders function together..i mostly work with 4 shaderchannel-materials but that is only based on the idea : "the more ,the better" ;) .. there are a lot of setting combinations then are unexplored..the materials i made are only based on cavity settings ans tweaking the noise-channels !..there is so much more to learn !
