I am brand new to ZBrush and really like it so far. But I am not sure how to "Paint" my 3D objects once I get them shaped the way I need them.

I am learning the ZBrush jargon and haven't figured out yet how to use the paint tools. I need to create an 8 rotation spiral that has a different color for each rotation of the spiral. The spiral sits on a flat plane so that it appears to be growing up out of the center.

I have been through as many of the Z Scripts as I can to find the basics of how to work with colors but I can't find out how to just paint parts of a 3D object with different colors.

Please keep your explanations as simple as possible as I am still learning how to use the tools.

I attached a copy of my starting image to help explain what I am doing. http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/uploaded_from_zbc/200404/user_image-1081454004rnm.jpg

Hi--

If you want to apply colours or simple textures only, the easiest way is to use a very dense mesh, enter edit mode, press Color>Fill Object, and turn on RGB only so you won't deform your object. Then just paint it using the pointer tool, picking different clours as needed.
For more sophisticated textures, and if you want to use the various 2D and 2.5D tools, you'll have to use Projection Master - simply press G in edit mode to access the PM menu, paint on your texture, and press G again to apply the texture.
Hope that helps. :)

And draw your 3D object !
That's all, no more simple :)
